Job description

Tenure-track Faculty Positions in Mathematics: Financial Mathematics and Computational Economics

IE University´s School of Science and Technology invites applications for a full-time faculty position in Financial Mathematics.

The successful candidate will contribute to the teaching of undergraduate and graduate courses such as Stochastic Processes, Derivatives Pricing, Risk Analytics, and Computational Finance.

The ideal candidate should demonstrate a strong research record in a field closely related to:

  • Quantitative finance and stochastic modeling
  • Risk management and financial engineering
  • Computational methods for pricing and hedging
  • Machine learning and AI for financial markets
  • Applications in FinTech and data-driven decision systems
  • Algorithmic trading and agents in digital economy (RTB, auctions, etc)

A doctoral degree in Financial Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field is preferred.

Prior teaching experience and evidence of academic or professional contributions in the field will be viewed favorably.

Faculty are expected to engage in high-quality research, pursue external funding, and contribute to curriculum development and university service.

Impact Xcelerator Collaboration

We value candidates with the capacity to collaborate in applied research projects led by the Impact Xcelerator at IE School of Science and Technology, specifically in Financial Innovation & FinTech, Risk Analytics, and AI-driven Decision Systems .

The ability to contribute to multidisciplinary initiatives that combine quantitative methods, risk modeling, computational finance, and algorithmic agents to address complex financial and societal challenges will be key to the role’s success.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and teach courses at undergraduate and graduate levels in Financial Mathematics, including Stochastic Processes, Risk Analytics, and Computational Finance.

  • Conduct high-impact research in areas such as quantitative finance, stochastic modeling, and risk management while actively securing competitive research funds.

  • Supervise and mentor students across undergraduate, graduate, and Ph.D. programs.

  • Collaborate with financial industry partners and research networks on applied projects in FinTech, quantitative risk analytics, and algorithmic trading.

  • Play an active role in curriculum development, incorporating emerging trends such as AI for financial decision systems, data-driven optimization, and scientific computing.

  • Participate in academic service and contribute to the strategic growth of the School of Science and Technology.

Qualifications

  • A PhD in Financial Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field is preferred.

  • Prior teaching experience and evidence of academic or professional contributions in the field will be viewed favorably.

  • Fluency in English is required; proficiency in Spanish is desirable but not mandatory.
