Overview
The Computer Sciences (CS) department of BSC, through its Workflows and Distributed Computing (WDC) group, is looking for a junior engineer for the SEANERGYS project, a next‐generation software solution to improve the energy‐efficient operations of EuroHPC supercomputers.
The successful candidate will develop and extend the COMPSs runtime to support energy‐performance scheduling, monitoring, and testing.
Key Duties
Develop extensions to the COMPSs runtime to support new scheduling policies for energy–performance trade‐offs.
Implement features to monitor and analyze runtime scheduling decisions.
Write tests for new extensions using the COMPSs test infrastructure.
Document the new features and update COMPSs documentation.
Collaborate closely with research members of the WDC group and participate in project meetings and deliverables.
Requirements
Education: Degree in Computer Science or related field.
Essential Knowledge: Parallel programming; strong programming skills in Java, C, and/or Python.
Additional Experience: Previous work with PyCOMPSs/COMPSs runtime or similar task‐based environments; knowledge of distributed computing.
Competences: Fluency in English (written and spoken); proficiency in additional European languages is a plus.
Conditions
Location: BSC, Computer Sciences Department.
Contract type: Full‐time (37.5 h/week), open‐ended.

Recruitment and Selection
Selection follows a competitive examination system with two phases:
Curriculum analysis (40 % of the score).
Interview phase (60 % of the score).
A minimum of 30 % is required to advance.
A minimum panel of three people, at least 25 % women, will conduct the interviews.
